There are many different ways that you can spoil yourself. Or, the way that you spoil yourself changes as time goes on. I know that my ways of spoiling myself have expanded as time has passed. But, maybe you don’t know how to spoil yourself.
Or, you could want to expand ways to spoil yourself. It doesn’t matter! We should all have ways that we give ourselves love. Treat yourself because you had an off day. You had a great day. You are living, breathing air, have two eyes, are able to walk, whatever it may be. There are no rules on why you need to treat yourself or how often.
Whenever I would think that I’m spoiling myself a bit too much, my mom would always say that you only have one life. Don’t wait for the perfect moment, because you could be waiting for a lifetime.
So, let’s go into the magnificent ways that one can treat themselves with such royal treatment.
Time
Though some may not see this as a way to spoil yourself, I definitely see time as one. Just having time with yourself for 5 minutes after a day of being on the go, dealing with other people and their issues, being in traffic, just dealing with life that day, is sometimes really needed.
I know when my social battery is depleted and I need to recharge, just having that alone time feels rejuvenating.
We can all have a day, half a day, a couple of hours, or even a couple of minutes where we can have that alone time. There are some people I know who like going to get their nails done at the nail salon or with their nail tech. You could also go to the spa and enjoy a nice massage or steam room.
Then there are other places, like the park, where you can enjoy tranquility. I know that going outside and just listening to the birds chirp their songs around me brings me such peace. I appreciate the little moments I have with myself where it feels as if the world is at a standstill. I truly cherish it.
Buy yourself some flowers/card
Now, at first, I wasn’t a flower girl. I really didn’t understand why flowers were seen as nice. However, one day, I bought my parents flowers. And to see their faces when they were surprised with flowers made my day.
After that moment, I decided to give flowers a chance. So I went to the grocery store and bought myself some red roses. And to see the flowers in the vase every day showed the love and appreciation that I have for myself. I have now implemented giving myself flowers every once in a while, and it just makes me smile.
If you were like me and didn’t understand flowers, I would suggest giving them a try. If you still don’t get it, then it’s just something that isn’t for you. And that’s okay!
Treat yourself to food/a nice meal
Whenever I had a test that I had been studying weeks for, which was every test, I started to treat myself to a nice meal. And a nice meal doesn’t mean that I went to the most expensive restaurant. Sometimes, that would mean that I would go to Starbucks to get my favorite drink. Or get mozzarella sticks, which are my ABSOLUTE favorite.
My go to treat is always mozzarella sticks, but yours, of course, may differ. I would like to know what y’all’s favorite meal or food is. For me, I can eat pasta all day.
But you should give yourself a nice little treat! Life is about these little moments or little treats where you can just enjoy yourself. I love looking back at those moments, and I smile every single time. It’s because I know that I am just enjoying my day or making my day better for myself.
Get something you’ve been eyeing
This could be something so small as a toy or gadget. Or, this could be something as big as a car. I have done this many times. I have gone to the bookstore to buy myself a book that I have been eyeing. I have bought a game that I have been wanting to play with my family or just by myself. I could go on, but you get the point.
When you get that thing that you’ve been eyeing, it feels like the anticipation explodes once you have it in your hands. There have been times where I have dedicated a whole day to learning about the game or the gadget I had just purchased.
Sometimes I just enjoy the rest of the day and have fun with my new purchase. Again, this is all up to you on what this is. But, I hope that you can spoil yourself by getting that item for yourself :).
Give yourself love by affirmations
When I am having an off day and I am just not feeling myself, I will tell myself affirmations in the mirror. Or, I’ll just say them to myself. I don’t know why, but affirmations just work wonders for me when I really need them.
It feels as if I am giving myself that pep talk that I need for the day, and it just keeps me going. I can tell myself that you’ve got this, you’re capable, everything will work out. Then, I may say that I am beautiful, amazing, etc.
And after a while of me saying these, when I am in the same mood, I will just automatically tell myself the things that I would utter to myself previously. Sometimes you just need to tell yourself that it’s gonna be okay, you’re gonna be okay, etc.
Just tell yourself all the things you would want to hear, and know that those words are true. It may not feel like it in the beginning. I would advise you to trust the process, and know that your words are being heard and recognized.
