I remember whenever I was watching TV, I would see reruns of older TV shows. A couple of them caught my attention, but The Nanny hooked me immediately! I know there has to be some people reading this that have watched at least one episode of The Nanny. At the very least, they have seen her on Pinterest with her amazing outfits or even seen clips of the show on TikTok.
I’m telling you, when I would watch The Nanny, I was just amazed at the fashion that Fran would wear. I was absolutely jealous of her closet and wanted to have a fashion sense just like her. In fact, I would say that many of her outfits I would love to just have inside my own closet!
Who needs a fashion consultant when there’s Fran!
When I tell you, after seeing Fran Fine and her taste in outfits, I was determined to find fashion that matched her taste. Of course, now you can just look up what she wore! There’s a whole Instagram that’s dedicated to what Fran Fine wore in each episode! If you want to look at it, it’s @WhatFranWore.
If you were to ask me why her outfits captivated me so, I don’t know if I could express it in words! They are just divine! Especially when she was going out on a date and wore an amazing dress. And there is one dress that I have remembered for years! Now, I don’t remember the season nor the episode number, but I remember that dress. When I think of a revenge black dress, or just a classic black dress, I think of that specific one.
It’s the dress that Fran Fine wore when she, unknowingly, was going out on a date with a mobster. And, of course, that’s just the first one that pops up in my mind. I would love to know the one Nanny Fine outfit that has been engraved in your head ever since you’ve seen it. This would be my moment, and I would love to hear y’alls.
Props to the designers, both on the runway and the ones behind the scene
To my shock, I discovered that most, if not all, of the outfits Fran wore were designer! Franny Fine was wearing Moschino, Versace, Chanel, Fendi, and there’s even more. If you truly want to know all of the designers, I’ll save you the trouble and give you the website that listed all of them: https://www.franfinedatabase.com/designer.
I mean, you can look at pictures taken from the runway of what the piece looked like on the model and how it was transformed to fit the character of Nanny Fine. It’s amazing. I love looking at some of the pieces and seeing how they would sometimes trim the clothing or make it shorter to make it more of her character’s style. I would just love to be in that wardrobe department when The Nanny was at its peak. I also hope that those pieces were kept and treasured. At the very least, I hope those who found it treasure those pieces! I know I would!!
But, I have to give my flowers to Brenda Cooper, who was the primary costume designer. I watched a YT video of her, and she would mention how she wanted the fashion on the Nanny to be different. She would envision this outfit and would search all over to find what fit her vision! And, I have to say that this woman has an exemplary fashion sense.
If you hear her and the way she would pair certain pieces with one another, it’s just fascinating to listen to. If not, then I’ll keep it short. Thank you to all of those designers who produced these amazing pieces. I will be searching for them and will have them in my closet.
The fashion cycle thus repeats itself
And you can tell that the fashion of the 90s is creeping back into the fashion circulation. Heck, even the early 2000s trends are coming back to be popular again. However, just my opinion, I’ll take high rise jeans over low rise jeans ANY DAY. Regardless, trends come and go, but they always seem to make a reappearance some decades later.
And, I mean, I think there are MANY Fran Fine outfits that have probably become EVEN more popular because of the 90’s and early 2000’s fashion resurgence.
